| dc.description.abstract | El presente artículo se refiere a las sucesivas exploraciones realizadas por integrantes del Ejército de Chile hacia el interior del continente antártico entre los años 1992 y 1996, actividades que permitieron que un equipo de la Escuela de Montaña conquistara el Polo Sur Geográfico, esquiando. El autor del artículo participó como jefe de la primera expedición del Ejército al sector de Patriot Hills en el año 1992 y que sirvió de base para la conquista del Polo Sur en 1996. The author of this article served as chief of the Army's first expedition to Patriot Hills in 1992 and served as a base for the conquest of the South Pole in 1996.
